Chasing the Sun

Today was the day that we chased the sun west. The sun was up the entire time we traveled west to Asia across the United States's June 29th and into Asia's June 30th. We finally saw darkness fall as we flew from Tokyo to Hong Kong. It is now close to midnight and I am sitting in the Hong Kong airport waiting for another flight of teachers to arrive. I am exhausted and ready for bed!

Here are a few shots of our travels today...

My friend Sarah is going with me to be another team leader. She is also a third grade teacher on break this summer. I am so blessed to be getting to travel with a friend! Here we are at Lexington's Bluegrass Airport.

Our next stop was in Detroit. Our Delta plane is in the background behind the fun fountain!

13 hours later we made it just in time to Tokyo to get to our next gate where everyone was already in line. However, there was a little surprise....

We were barely in time for our next flight so we got switched to a different airline and got upgraded to first class!!!! What a bonus after hours and hours in the sky. This made everything look a lot better. It is amazing what a soft pillow, cozy blanket, and a completely reclining chair can do for the mental state of a person!

We have now made it to Hong Kong. We are exhausted but excited to start our summer!
