This past weekend I got to visit my sister in Washington, D.C.! Rachel took me on a very scenic bike ride where we rode past many of the different famous landmarks. Can you think of the names of these famous buildings? The answers will be at the bottom!

HERE ARE THE ANSWERS!

#1 The Capitol (This is where our U.S. Representatives and Senators meet to make laws for all of the United States. Remember talking about the legislative branch of government?)

#2 The Washington Monument (It was built in honor of George Washington, who led the country to independence and was our first President. The Monument is shaped like an Egyptian obelisk, stands about 555 feet tall, and offers views thirty miles away from the top. It was finished in 1884.)

#3 TheThomas Jefferson Memorial (Built in honor of Thomas Jefferson who helped to write the Declaration of Independence and later became a President. The Memorial stands as a symbol of our liberty.)

#4 The World War II Memorial (Remember our Veterans' Day celebration back in November? This new monument was finished in 2004. This Monument recognizes the brave people who have protected our country's freedoms.)

#5 The Lincoln Monument (The 16th President sits carved out of marble to be a symbol of freedom.)
