Cheung Chau Island

We have been sending some days on Hong Kong's Cheung Chau Island. We rode to the island on a 45 minute ferry ride. What wonderful scenery as we sailed past so many of the islands! We then arrived on the island, and I fell instantly in love with the authenticity of this place. It is so much more "Chinese" than the modern cityof Hong Kong.

We had to endure a sticky hike up and down little pathways until we arrived at the top of the mountain at our retreat center for more training. What a sweltering day to do the walk. Let's just say SWEAT is very much a reality here! You'll get no pictures of that part of the walk since I wasn't wanting to document what we all looked like when we arrived:) The wonderful part is that we overlook the South China Sea and get to hear the wonderful lapping of the waves! It is a paradise...just a very hot paradise! I now know why people in tropical places have a slower pace of life and take a long break in the middle of the day. You definitely take a shower at the beginning and end of each day (and perhaps another one in the middle). Here are few pics of where we're staying.

The building where we have meetings.
This is our very small room. Barely enough room to pass a friend if both passing by the beds. Thank goodness it had air conditioning (9PM-8AM).
Take a close look. This is our "shoilet". There isn't exactly a shower stall...
just a "bathroom" all in one. Very cozy (and I'm sure easy to clean)!

Here are some shots from this island paradise of lush greenery, tropical breezes, and beautiful butterflies. All of these pics are from the retreat center where we are staying for several days. Isn't God's creation absolutely enthralling? Nature like this is such a sweet refreshment for my soul.
