Sights

Here is a Saturday from a recent weekend.

A few of us girls tried going to dim sum for a weekend breakfast.

It was the only point of this summer where I almost cried. We went to a nice place from the recommendation of a friend. It was such a beautiful restaurant, but we were the only foreign people in the place. We didn't know how to order dim sum foods from the ladies bringing little baskets of treats to our table (who didn't speak English). How were we supposed to know what the food was or how much it would cost us? It was frustrating and embarrassing. I finally went over to another table and found someone who could speak a bit of English and tell us how it all worked. I highly recommend going to dim sum with someone else who is experienced!

Victoria Harbor

Here is my city for the summer!

Lesson learned...when the subway doors start beeping...MOVE QUICKLY!!!
I didn't move fast enough and ended up getting squeezed between the doors shutting. That got my heart pounding! These few scrapes on my arms quickly healed.

The Peak Tram was our way to get to the top of Victoria Peak.
We didn't know the line would be an hour long!

Cool reflective pictures off a building while we waited for the tram.

Our friend Kyle took these fun pictures!

The way people used to get to the top of the peak.

The Peak Tram is how we traveled!

The view from the top. The true sights cannot be shared in a picture.
The city just glitters with lights in all directions.

Do you notice all the clouds rolling in? Yes, the clouds were literally rolling in around us as we were outside waiting in line to go back down on the tram. Then the rain started. Fortunately for us the rain kept up just a normal pace until we had just stepped inside the building. Then it immediately poured and blew all over the place. The poor people outside in line were completely soaked! However, by the time we got down the mountain the rain had already halted. Oh, how different tropical weather is from Kentucky! I've already had to bury 2 umbrellas and buy a more expensive one that is supposedly wind-proof. My Chinese friend said she thought it was good enough to get through at least one typhoon. That's good enough for me!
